1. Minimize to the pill. In the Android app tap MINIMIZE TO PILL. Android asks once per play session to see your screen: tap Start now. The app disappears and the pill sits over Pokémon GO. PILL: SIDE is a narrow pill on the right edge (drag it up or down; drag it across to dock on the left). PILL: TOP BAR is a strip across the top that stays above the white card, over the Pokémon model, because everything the scanner reads (name, HP, weight, type row, appraisal, catch banner) is on that card. The pill never blinks or hides and shows in your own screenshots; scans ignore what is under it and tell you if it is covering the appraisal box. OPEN brings the full app back, CLOSE stops it.
2. Tap SCAN, or turn on AUTO. SCAN reads the screen once, on your phone (nothing is sent anywhere), and says what it saw: CATCH, STORAGE or STANDBY, then the Pokémon and its CP. AUTO watches while you swipe through your storage with the appraisal open: it reads each new card once it has settled, buzzes briefly to say “logged, swipe on”, and switches itself off after 30 seconds without a change, when you leave the storage page, or after 10 minutes. A manual SCAN always wins and restarts AUTO afresh.
3. On a wild or raid Pokémon it answers four things. BERRY: Pinap only when the catch can afford it. BALL: by the colour the catch ring should be, Poké Ball while it is green to yellow, Great Ball on orange, Ultra Ball on deep orange or red (it names the ring it expects, so a mismatch is easy to spot; with no CP read it says to follow the ring). IV CHECK: counted from every IV combination that gives this CP, so it says 100% POSSIBLE · 1 IN 149 rather than “maybe”, PERFECT 100% only when nothing else fits (raid bosses), otherwise NOT PERFECT. AFTER CATCH: keep, trade, evolve or transfer. A raid boss gets exactly two Master Ball answers: PERFECT! USE MASTER BALL or SAVE MASTER BALL. On the pill, ⇅ switches between the side pill and the top bar in place, and ! files a report when a result looks wrong (test builds: My Log → Reports).
4. On a Pokémon in your storage it answers VERDICT, IV CHECK (total out of 45 and percentage first, then the three stats) and REASON. Nicknames do not matter: with the appraisal open it reads the “This Sandslash was caught…” banner (real species, catch date and place); otherwise the candy name, the CP and the EVOLVE button. Regional forms are told apart by the type row; if that row was not read it says FORM? and withholds move advice rather than guessing. The order of verdicts inside a family is: 45 and 44 always KEEP · lucky KEEP (it plays about 8 IV points higher, power it up first) · the keeper slots (your top 6 by IVs above the 37-IV floor, 3 for the league lane, 1 for low-use species) · then TRADE in order of what a receiver saves · then SURPLUS (transfer for room). GONE on the pill marks one you transferred.
Trade value. A trade re-rolls IVs but keeps the level, so a trade candidate is valued by the stardust a receiver can expect to save, shown as ~NNK: the dust already powered into it (L30 ≈ 120k, L40 = 270k) · the chance it turns lucky (5% under a year old, 10% / 15% / 20% at 1 / 2 / 3+ years) times half the power-ups still ahead · the candy in it minus the candy still owed to fully evolve (so a level-30 Charmander is worth about half a level-30 Charizard; a trade evolution like Machoke counts its free evolution as a plus) · a re-roll ticket for rare and meta families while your keeper slots are empty. League picks are valued against their league’s cap level. 150k+ is TRADE 1ST, 25k+ TRADE, below that transfer. Up to 5 trades are held per family; the pill shows the two biggest contributors (L31 130K · CANDY 33K).
Role and moves. On a keeper the pill adds ROLE: RAID, PVP with its best league, RAID + PVP, with a strength and a percentage (TOP 92%, SOLID, FRINGE 43%, MINOR) from its raid rank overall, its rank among attackers of its type and its best league rank, or COLLECTION. The percentage is the species’ utility, and it scales the keeper slots (a top pick keeps all 6, a 43% fringe pick keeps 3, a collection species keeps 1) and the trade value (25% for collection up to 100% for a top pick), so there is no cliff between tiers. Then the moves to aim your TMs at, one line per role: RAID MOVES and/or <LEAGUE> LEAGUE MOVES (two charged moves for PvP: unlock the second). Each line says FAST and CHARGED separately and names what an ordinary Fast TM / Charged TM can reach; when the very best move needs an Elite TM or its Community Day it is added as BEST: … (ELITE TM), and (NO TM) marks a move no TM teaches. A Pokémon that still has to evolve gets its final form’s moves (RAID MOVES AS METAGROSS): evolve first, evolving re-rolls the moves. Nothing is shown on trades or transfers, so no TM is wasted.
5. My Log remembers your Pokémon. Every storage scan is saved on this phone, recognised by family, height and weight, CP, HP, catch date and IVs together, so renaming or powering up never confuses it, and a re-scan with the appraisal closed still shows the saved IVs as 15/14/15 (SAVED). Appraise once, remembered forever: open the in-game appraisal and SCAN (or let AUTO do it). Each row in My Log shows its current standing (keeper #2 of 6, trade ~66k, transfer, gone), recomputed from the whole log, so an older pill verdict can never contradict a newer scan. Lucky and shadow are read from the page (the purple haze, confirmed by the PURIFY button); shiny recognition is paused for now: nothing is marked shiny automatically, shinies are judged like any other Pokémon, and the shiny tick in My Log is a tag only (the colour, sparkle and shiny-pass machinery returns once real examples have calibrated it). When it is back, Shinies are their own branch: the best 2 of each species are SHINY PRIZED (collection and high IVs), every other shiny is SHINY STOCK, held for shiny-for-shiny trades rather than transferred; shiny shadows and shiny legendaries follow the same rule. Shadows are judged among shadows (attack IV counts double, 30+ floor): for a raid species the best few stay shadows (KEEP · SHADOW RAID FORM: the +20% attack beats any IV gap), a shadow whose +2 purified IVs make a 44/45 says PURIFY with the dust and candy it costs, a surplus shadow worth more traded than transferred says PURIFY · THEN TRADE (a shadow can’t be traded), and the rest transfer. Shadow legendaries from shadow raids are the exception: keep up to your raid slots as shadows, transfer the rest for candy (purifying costs rare candy and trading burns the one special trade a day). Dynamax Pokémon are their own pool (keep the best 3 per species). A favorited Pokémon that the numbers would transfer says FAVORITE? instead.
6. Search builder. The Search button writes text for Pokémon GO’s own storage search: tap what you want (stars, attack/defense/HP ratings, kind, type, region, CP, age, family), COPY, paste into the game. Ready-made searches cover logging a big collection fast: only 3★,4★, legendaries from 2★, luckies at 1–2★ and PvP-shaped stats can be keepers, so only those need the appraisal sweep with AUTO; everything else is a trade or a transfer. The app never types into the game.
